In recognition of the need for the PA Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) to generate additional revenue to keep up with the costs of inflation, to support all of its programs, to ensure a robust staff complement, and to advance new and existing programs focused on native and wild trout enhancement and conservation, PATU has established a position statement regarding fishing license and permit fee increases.

Based upon Senator James Brewster’s co-sponsorship memorandum, PATU supports the proposed increases in fees for licenses, the trout/salmon permit and various combination permits with the understanding that the PFBC will direct an adequate part of the funding generated from the license fee/permit increases into native and wild trout enhancement and conservation.

The actual legislation has yet to be introduced, and when it is, hearings will be conducted by the state Senate which PATU intends to lend its voice to regarding the allocation of funding for native and wild trout enhancement and conservation needs.
