Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited Opens Search for Executive Director
Statewide coldwater conservation organization seeks leader for its signature grant, education, and conservation programs
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (July 21, 2026) — The Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU) announced today that its search for a new Executive Director is officially open. The full-time, remote position leads the day-to-day work of one of Pennsylvania’s most active statewide conservation organizations, representing 49 local Trout Unlimited chapters and approximately 11,000 members across the Commonwealth.
The Executive Director serves as program director of the Coldwater Heritage Partnership (CHP) — a joint effort of PATU, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds that funds grants to evaluate, conserve, and protect the state’s coldwater streams. The position also oversees PATU’s support of the Trout in the Classroom environmental education program, which brings trout-raising and watershed education to K–12 classrooms statewide in partnership with the Fish & Boat Commission and coordinates the biennial Keystone Coldwater Conference.

We’re looking for a self-starter with excellent writing and organizational skills who shares our passion for Pennsylvania’s wild trout and the waters they depend on.”
The position is home-office based within Pennsylvania with statewide travel. The salary range is $62,000–$77,000, commensurate with skills and experience, plus Trout Unlimited’s full benefits package.
